Best gate I've ever had
I have to start out by saying this is by far the BEST gate I've owned. I've tried cheap ones and as sad as it is to say, my idea of safety and safety regulations for baby/toddler products vary greatly. So far there seems to be nothing my child can hurt himself with, nor can he even attempt to climb over this gate. He can't even reach the mechanism to open the gate.

Only 2 things I'd make differently about the gate:

1. make the rail openings narrower, or have a solid panel with no openings for a child to stick any body part, or item through. My son can still fit a leg through the opening. So far we've had no incidents with that, hopefully we will continue with none.

2. Figure out a design that wouldn't include the bottom bar on the floor that you have to remember to step over, I have tripped a couple times when I've been carrying something. Once again, nothing major.

I love the way the mechanism works. At first it was stiff and I wasn't sure I'd like it, but now that we've used it a few weeks, it works great. I like that it swings shut behind you. I saw in other reviews that people didn't like the width of the opening. I've found it to be just fine, and no, I'm not a tiny skinny person :)

This gate is very sturdy and assembly was very fast and easy. We did have to use one extender, but unlike some gates, you don't have to have perfectly even walls in order for it to fit snuggly and securely in place. The custom adjusters (kind of like refrigerator "legs" that you screw out to balance it) are a great feature. If you need it for the top of stairs, it has the permanent hardware to screw it into the walls for more security.

If you wants hands free opening, you may want to rethink that. In my experience, and in reading reviews of the gates with foot pedals, they don't seem to hold up as well, or as long. If I have my hands full, it doesn't seem like an issue to put something down to open the gate or just drop it over the other side before opening. Another plus, the gate door will open in either direction.

All in all, in my opinion, you can't go wrong with this gate.

It's the best
Our church nursery has tried several baby gates, and this is the best by far. It's safe, easy and secure.

A gate that means business!
The gate arrived just this morning, so I have yet to set it up or use it, but based on my first impression I can say that this is one heavy duty, sturdy gate.
It is very heavy - over 20 lbs. Because it's extra tall, it can be used for medium and large sized dogs.
Unlike some of the gates advertised on Amazon, this gate will be appropriate for children over the age of 12 or 24 months.
If you're looking for something permanent to set up in a doorway - this is the gate for you.
If you're looking to occasionally block a doorway and have the option of setting it up in various rooms throughout your home - this gate might prove to be a tad complicated.

Great so far!
This product seems excellent so far; we have only had them for about a month, now.
We decided to get the extra tall based on user reviews of the regular height that said the children began to climb the gates as they got older. We have these blocking our stairs so our 15 month old daughter can't fall down them.
She has figured out that the latch needs to slide in order to open the gate, but can't open it due to the safety feature of having to lift the gate slightly to open it. Make sure you position it correctly or the swing closed feature will not work properly, but when you have it correctly aligned and tightened this is a great feature for the gate and has been really helpful!
We got this set with the extensions because the width of our stairwell measures 35.5" so we thought the gate with the 3.5" extension would be a perfect fit. However, when we received the gate and set it up as such it seemed less sturdy than we had hoped because the buffer pads we extended near their full length. So we switched to the 7" extensions which was a closer fit to the opening but make for a much tighter/safer fit all around!

Great tall gate for dog
Good and sturdy! It is high enough that our dog does not jump over! Easy to install too!
